This week the team at Hog Roast Ramsey were asked to cater for a rather fun event. Speed dating works in much the same way as a normal romantic date, with a couple of crucial differences. Rather than spending several hours at once with the same person, you divide the time across several people, enabling singles to meet more eligible singles in a shorter space of time. We were contacted by Cathy, a woman responsible for organising regular speed dating sessions at a local community centre, and this time she decided that a hog roast would be the perfect addition to her event.
We spoke with Cathy about the particulars of her event. There would be twenty four people, twelve boys and twelve girls. The girls would sit on desks arranged into a circle, and would sit on the inside, whilst the men would revolve on the outside, spending two minutes at each table. After the first round of twenty four minutes there would be a quick break to grab a drink or a cigarette, and then the process would be repeated, before votes would be counted and read aloud to see who likes who. The Hog Roast would then be served and the guests would be free to eat with whom they chose.
It was a rainy day when the team from Hog Roast Ramsey arrived at the community centre. We were a good few hours in advance, in order to have everything ready for the serve time. We slow cook all our meats over the course of several hours to achieve the most succulent of flavours and crispiest of crackling. After a few hours the guests arrived and had their dates. There were a few shy faces at first but eventually everybody relaxed and enjoyed a pleasant evening. Once the votes were in and had been read aloud, the team served their wonderful Hog Roast.
The Hog Roast Ramsey team served the food buffet style from underneath the protection of our gazebo outside. The meals came with a seasonal veg medley, roasted new potatoes and a homemade onion gravy.
