Wondering what Hog Roast Peel has been cooking up lately? Well, wonder no more! July has rolled in, and things are heating up nicely here on the Isle of Man. And you know what that means: plenty of sunshine, fresh air, and loads of outdoor events for our team to dive into (tongs at the ready!).
From tying the knot to toasting another trip around the sun – or just making the most of a summer Saturday – our calendar’s filling up fast with events of all shapes and sizes. It’s busy, it’s a bit mad, and honestly… we’re loving every second.
The month kicked off with a proper celebration: Jennifer’s 21st birthday. Big milestones mean big plans. And she certainly wasn’t messing around. From the first point of contact, Hog Roast Peel knew this was going to be one for the books.
Jennifer chose a gorgeous, centuries-old millhouse perched right on the coast. Think rustic charm, sweeping sea views, plenty of room to party and, just as importantly, space to sleep it off afterwards. A hundred guests, all geared up for a night to remember.
Jennifer didn’t just tick the usual boxes either. She brought in a mentalist (who properly blew some minds), a karaoke machine (instant crowd favourite), and a blackjack table – because if you’re turning 21, why wouldn’t you lean into the theme?
As for feeding this lively bunch? That was our job. Hog Roast Peel came armed with the Southern Slow Roast Menu, and judging by the reaction, it hit the spot. People were practically queueing before we’d even finished setting up.
There was BBQ pork butt so tender it barely held together, Cajun-spiced chickens roasted whole, and those sticky Louisiana ribs that just fell apart the second you looked at them. Meat-lovers were happy, no doubt about it.
But the vegans and veggies weren’t left out either – our BBQ-pulled jackfruit raised more than a few eyebrows (in a good way). “Wait, this isn’t meat?” was heard more than once.
Sides included buttery corn cobbettes, mac and cheese with extra ooze, and a mix of fries – classic and sweet potato – crispy and golden, just how we like ‘em.
By the time the party wrapped up, Jennifer was glowing. Between the food, the vibe, and the stunning setting, it all came together just right. Safe to say, this party’s going to be talked about for a long time.
