Wedding Event – Isle of Man

Another busy weekend and another successful hog roast! We were booked to provide the catering for a wedding reception in sunny Douglas, Isle of Man. Was a really nice event too. We were set up in a big white marquee at a lovely country lodge. Plenty of space for us. I like doing receptions because the place is pretty much ours until the guests arrive and when they do arrive they’re already happy!
We had one king size hog on the go with a great honey glaze. A couple of chickens and ducks rounded out the meat with all the standard trimmings. We don’t often get asked for ducks so it made a welcome change for us to have them on the menu! It was a proper seated affair which gives us a chance to shine as its all uniforms and proper serving like a restaurant. Anyway by the time the bride and groom showed up with all the other guests the roast was smelling fantastic. The crackling was superb. Crunchy and juicy too. They had a DJ going and we busied away while everyone was mingling and dancing and drinking. Before long it was time to serve and everyone was seated and the today’s started. Some real groaners of jokes told by all too. But the bride and groom had a giggle and they looked so happy and in love. Really quite cute! So we got underway with serving and made sure everyone got what they wanted. They loved the roast. It went down really well. After we had served up the main we provided some of our homemade ice creams as a dessert. Those are always popular! Especially as we also do our own fresh fruit sauces. Taste great! Afterwards everyone was dancing and making merry while we cleaned up. I did a bit of mingling and had a nice chat with the bride’s father while my team worked. The man was chokes up. Pretty sweet actually! We did the awkward payment bit and we dropped in the remainder of the sliced up hog for him inside. We were left to our own devices to finish packing up and getting ready to head off. It was a great gig and the roast was beautiful. Was particularly pleased with the duck too. Those turned out well, impressive too since I was considering changing out supplier! The guests were well behaved too and in all it was pretty much drama free! Glad the weather held up for both is and the happy couple. If they’re reading this I hope they have a really nice honeymoon too. Hawaii I heard; can’t be bad!!
