Birthday and Wedding Catering.

Monday we were back in Douglas for another birthday party would you believe it. I cooked pig and I cooked chicken, both on a spit, and both were scrumptious to the nth degree. The 60 or so guests who got themselves to the party knew they’d made the right decision when they saw me at the other side of the room, roasting away a few whole chickens and a whole hunk of pork. For the few guests who didn’t turn up, more fool them, because they missed out on some heavenly spit roast meats.

The Saturday before that I traveled with a contingent of Spitting Pig staff to the top half of the island as we were due in Ramsey for a wedding reception. The drive up was nice as the sun was out and fingers were crossed that the weather wouldn’t take a turn for a worse. When we got to the venue the weather was still nice and so we set-up our equipment, began cooking a hog roast, prepping canapes and unloading glasses for the champagne for when the wedding guests arrived. Throughout the few hours spent doing all of this the weather stayed nice and then, just as people started popping up in their droves, would you believe it, the heavens opened and it started to absolutely poor it down. Fortunately the wedding venue had a nice entrance structure that was plenty big and offered shelter from the rain, so we moved our area out of the rain and to safety, and gave out canapes, champagne and then spit pig on bread rolls to the guests. You wouldn’t have known it was a wedding reception from the talk, while we were serving it was all about us and the mouth watering hog roast flavours.
