Here at The Spitting Pig, we love a good party, and I especially love weddings, being an old romantic at heart. There’s something truly lovely about seeing a couple who have pledged to be together for always celebrate with their loved ones, and doing so by enjoying food together. When it comes to providing great food for such a celebration, we’re passionate about quality and freshness and giving our customers memories for years to come. We also love to give our customers choice and this is just what we had in mind when we recently catered for a happy couple whose wedding reception was in the beautiful countryside in Dreemskerry.
When Sienna and Josh King contacted us late last year about our wedding menus that they had seen online, we made sure they knew that we were happy to help them create a bespoke wedding menu if they preferred instead. Although our own menu options are extensive, we also know that your wedding day is all about you and what you want, so if you have particular ideas or requests for your big day, you should always discuss them with your caterer; never settle! We like to give you as much freedom if you need for your wedding reception menu and we’re not happy until you are.
Sienna’s own diet is restricted by her gluten intolerances but we can always help when it comes to any kinds of food preferences or needs. For this reception, we needed to provide a gluten-free option, a vegan option, and a vegetarian option. Our delicious stuffed peppers are actually suitable for both vegans and vegetarians and the hog roast that the couple ordered would mostly be suitable for those on a gluten-free diet like Sienna. The main course for this wedding feast would be hog roast rolls (or ‘pigs in buns’ as we like to call them) so we just needed to provide gluten-free bread rolls for a few of the guests and then – voilĂ – a feast fit for a King (or two!)
We perfectly roasted the hog on the couple’s big day and all the different options were loved by all the guests. We received so many compliments on our food and future bookings for parties, too. As a chef, there is really nothing better.
