Mother’s Day was approaching and we at The Hare And Hounds Laxley had decided to do something different this year. We had made the decision to hire the Hogmaster Hog Roast Machine from Hog Roast Laxey to roast pork and lamb for our Mother’s Day lunch. We had hired a different machine previously, the Platinum machine from spitting pig for New Year’s Eve and had great success with it and customers had asked when we would do it again. The obvious choice was Mother’s Day. We were expecting to be very busy as it was such a lovely sunny day. It was a little chilly so the lovely smell that you get from lamb and pork being cooked filled the pub. We had fresh vegetables and potatoes cooking. Sage and onion stuffing with apple sauce was also chosen to accompany the pork and a fresh mint sauce was made for the lamb.
We had plenty of people booked in for a lovely Hog Roast dinner and were expecting lots more to just arrive at different times in the day. Mother’s Day is a special occasion for families. Hog Roast Laxey had been to show us how to use their machines and were very helpful and answered any questions we asked. Nothing was too much trouble for them so we had no hesitation in hiring a machine from them again but this time choosing the Hogmaster. The meat takes between 6 and 8 hours to cook depending on the size so we were well prepared in advance. People started arriving at lunch time for the bookings they had made and everyone was looking forward to a tasty lunch as the smell of cooked meat greeted them as they arrived. Having the meat slowly roasting made it easy as we were able to just slice pieces of as and when people arrived. The atmosphere was lovely and everyone was commenting on such a fantastic Mother’s Day meal. The day was a great success with lots of happy and full customers.
