Many people will be looking forward to their retirement. Not having to get up for work every day, having that extra time to spend with your loved ones or to go and do what you’ve always dreamed of such as travelling or taking up a new hobby. However, for those people who truly are passionate about their work, retirement can be more of a sad occasion and often these people only retire due to illness or because they simply can’t work anymore.
This Saturday we had the honour of catering with Hog Roast Peel for Tracey’s retirement. Having been a school teacher her whole adult life, it’s safe to say she was sad to be retiring and would miss teaching her class every day. That’s why her fellow teachers at the local school had all clubbed together to give Tracey the send-off she deserved and that’s when Hog Roast Peel were contacted!
The school’s headmaster, Ian, had recently experienced our Hog Roast Peel at a family event and so suggest us as the ideal caterers for Tracy’s retirement party. We knew we would have to impress and so worked with Ian to create the perfect menu; slow roasted hog whole, served with seasonal roasted vegetables, corn on the cob and a couple of our most vibrant salads. As the party was being held at the school itself, parents and pupils had been invited along to wish Tracey well and so we made sure we brought along some kid-friendly options in the form of our finest butchers selection burgers and sausages.
In addition to our Hog Roast Peel feast, the staff had clubbed together to get a cake made for Tracey. The cake had been decorated with a royal icing figure of Tracey teaching her class and when she saw it she just welled up and said she would keep it forever!
We would like to wish you a happy and healthy retirement, Tracey!
