With August being romance awareness month, Hog Roast The Cronk has witnessed plenty of affectionate displays between our clients recently. But nothing quite compares to the magic of a traditional proposal, don’t you think? Well, luckily for us, that’s exactly what Archie had in mind when he first reached out to our customer service team to place a booking!
Having been with his girlfriend, Jodie for 10 years in the making, Archie had originally planned to pop the question on their trip to Hawaii. Unfortunately, with their holiday abroad cancelled, he had to come up with another idea – and fast!
As luck would have it, Archie soon stumbled upon our website, and after scouring our testimonials page and checking over our menu selection, he asked us to handle the food for his top-secret event. At Hog Roast The Cronk, we consider ourselves to be expert secret-keepers as well as excellent cooks, so Archie’s request was no problem at all!
Since the couple couldn’t go to Hawaii, Archie told us all about his plans to bring Hawaii to them. The idea was to transform their spacious back garden into a tropical paradise by filling it up with tasteful tiki lanterns, realistic palm trees, leafy bunting and even some inflatable entertainment like limbo and paddling pools. The cherry on the cake, of course, was to be one of our succulent spit-roasted pigs which would make the luau complete.
With Jodie none the wiser, Hog Roast The Cronk arrived to begin preparations for the feast in the late morning. The menu for this occasion included, a full-size spit-roasted pig with a variety of condiments and dips, grilled veggie skewers with optional halloumi and tzatziki dip, and plenty of colourful side salads and sliced fruits to add more flavour depth to the meal.
Jodie was speechless when she returned home not only to find the Hog Roast The Cronk catering crew standing with a spatula in hand behind a crispy, golden pig, but also to see the smiling faces of her family and friends whom Archie had secretly invited. After the initial shock began to fade, Archie seized the opportunity, and getting down on one knee, he revealed a black velvet box…
Cheers erupted from the guests when Jodie nodded her answer, and with all the excitement everyone was grateful of the hog roast to satiate their growing appetite.
