The 21st of last month will certainly go down as one of my favourite days working at Hog Roast Jurby when we travelled down to the coast for Jenna and Phil’s al fresco wedding. The venue was a beautiful country manor house with a large open garden overlooking the coast, I had no questions as to why the special couple had chosen this particular venue – it was stunning and on such a delightfully warm and sunny day! We were already off to a great start.
Jenna and Phil worked closely with myself and my colleagues to tailor our wedding menu to their personal tastes and to best suit their guests. They selected our alfresco wedding menu with additional antipasti and desserts. Jenna explained to me that her husband to be had proposed in Venice and so felt that the antipasti selection composed of lots of Italian inspired nibbles such as warm herb focaccia, fresh ciabatta and balsamic vinegar was especially fitting. As part of the alfresco wedding menu, couples are able to select two meat options and on this occasion they decided on our famous whole spit roasted pig, which Phil was particularly excited to try out after hearing about us from a fellow friends christening that we catered for. And for their second option they choose our whole spit roasted chicken, which we carved and served with delicious local chipolata sausages, homemade stuffing and plenty of fresh onion gravy. For sides we served up warm bread rolls, a selection of freshly prepared salads and herby potatoes which Jenna and Phil had requested double the portion of as they assured us that their guests were keen potato lovers and they weren’t wrong! I even boxed up a portion for one guest who was eager to take any leftovers home as they were too moreish to leave behind! Finally, dessert was a fitting summer pudding comprised of sweet seasonal berries and our special chocolate torte, a personal favourite of the bride who greatly enjoyed the handmade dark chocolate torte complete with a light but buttery base.
